Why they're helpful
Birds (particularly humming birds) are helpful in pollination. They also eat slugs, other pests, and weed seeds. Hummingbirds like tubular flowers such as honeysuckles and lobelia.
Identification

How to attract
Bird Feeders, bird baths and fountains for bathing and drinking, and certain fallen fruit (blackberries, raspberries) all attract birds. Bird houses for shelter as well tubular and red, orange, and white flowers are all useful attracting birds. Plants that birds are often attracted to and pollinate include sunflowers, coneflowers, cornflowers, black-eyed susans, daisies, asters, marigolds, and elderberries
