About Neimatt's Battir
([Eruca sativa]). From the ancient and culturally significant agricultural region of Battir, Palestine, comes this delicious and healthful green. The Battir landscape, just a few miles from Jerusalem, is one of lush, terraced valleys fed by a network of irrigation channels and underground water sources that have operated since antiquity. In 2014, Battir was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Arugula (or Jarjeer in Arabic) is a beloved green in Mediterranean cuisines. In Jewish tradition, the 9th century rabbi Amram Ga’on recommended it as ideal for karpas, the bitter green of the Passover seder. We love this tasty, peppery green in just about anything! All proceeds from the sale of this product will go to provide urgent aid for Palestinian farmers and families.
