Baker Creek is thrilled to offer this improved traditional variety developed by Mr. Leelaram Sahu, located in Dhamtari, a small village in Chhattisgarh, India, nestled amongst lush forests filled with ancient banyan trees, rolling hills, and wild winding rivers. Utilizing a brinjal variety named ‘Singhi,' a family heirloom handed down and preserved by his ancestors, Mr. Sahu was honored with the National Innovation Award in 2017 for conserving and developing this special variety of eggplant. The selection is now protected under the Plant Protection Act, and all our seeds are sourced directly from the breeder himself. Adorned with hypnotic green-purple marbled skin, these extraordinary eggplants are capable of reaching astonishing lengths of 2 feet and over! Their taste is sweet and their texture refined, a delicious culinary delight!
