Delphinium
Delphinium elatum
A summer blooming favorite, Delphiniums come in lavenders, purples, pinks, whites, and stunning blues. A bee and butterfly magnet, tall stems are packed with blooms, so plant support is needed. These will do well in the middle of the garden. Stems can be cut back to encourage a second bloom in fall.

Growing from Seed
Starting seed indoors, hardening off, and transplanting soon after last frost will give your plants the best start. Delphinium seeds can have poor germination rates. Nursery plants may be your best bet.
Planting Considerations
All parts of Delphinium are poisonous!!! Use with extreme caution around children and pets. Using polypropylene/nylon netting is advisable as the plants can get very top-heavy.
Harvesting
Pick when 1/3 of flowers are open.
