Mosaic Virus

Identification

The leaves of plants affected by mosaic viruses will take on a mosaic-like mix of yellow, white, and green splotches. The spots are sometimes raised and have a blister-like appearance. Plants affected by mosaic viruses may exhibit crinkled leaves and deformed growth. Tomatoes with mosaic virus will have abnormally small/misshapen fruits.

Damage prevention

Plant virus-resistant plant varieties in your garden. Mosaic viruses are usually spread by aphids, so implementing methods of aphid control may be helpful in prevention.

Physical control

There is no physical cure once plants are infected by mosaic virus. Infected plants must be destroyed immediately. Do not compost infected plants.

Chemical control

There is no chemical cure once plants are infected by mosaic virus.
