How do I use the new Tasks and Notes?

Learn how to use the new Tasks and Notes feature including adding custom tasks

Notes and Events in Planter have merged with Tasks and Notifications to become Tasks and Notes.

Now in addition to the suggested plant tasks, you can also create custom tasks and set reminders for upcoming garden to-dos, and use notes to document your garden's progress over time.

Note: The ability to use tasks and notes is a Planter Premium feature.


  1. Open Tasks and Notes

    Open Tasks and Notes

    Select "More" from the menu bar then select "Tasks and Notes".

  2. Add a Custom Task or Note

    Add a Custom Task or Note

    Tap the green + button in the lower-right corner to add a new custom task or note.

  3. Select Applicable Garden(s)

    Select Applicable Garden(s)

    Optionally, tap on garden names to apply the task or note only to those gardens.

    Note: Only Gardens 2.0 gardens can have the new Tasks and Notes applied.

  4. Select a Type

    Select a Type

    Expand the "Type" dropdown menu and select whether to add a general note or a specific task type (e.g., weeding, watering, other).

  5. Specify the Units (Tasks Only)

    Specify the Units (Tasks Only)

    For the selected task type, specify the number and units (e.g., hours, cups, square feet) using the two dropdown menus.

  6. Add a Task Description

    Enter a description and additional task details in the Description text field.

  7. Assign a Date and Time

    Assign a Date and Time

    Tap on the "Date" field to specify a date and time for the task.

  8. Save the Task

    Save the Task

    Tap the "Save" button in the upper-right corner to save the task.

  9. Filter Tasks and Notes

    Filter Tasks and Notes

    Tap the filter icon in the upper-middle of the screen, then select the applicable checkboxes to filter tasks and notes for particular gardens, task types, statuses, etc.
