Growing from Seed

Lime is not typically grown from seed.

Planting Considerations

Limes are extremely cold-sensitive. In the commercial citrus belt (extending from southern California to Florida), citrus trees can be planted at any time due to the perennial warmth. However, in areas colder than zone 9, limes can be grown in containers indoors.

Feeding

Fertilize about once every couple of months during warm months, and about every 3 months during dormancy.

Harvesting

Limes take several months to mature on the tree, and won’t ripen off of it.
